Making Sense of Trump

I’ve been in New York the past few weeks and besides taking in the beautiful summer I’ve had the opportunity to take in some of the election atmosphere too. Strange atmosphere it is.

On one side almost everyone you meet and talk to has only bad things to say about Trump and on the other side every poll finds his popularity rising steadily.

Trump bashers are scared that the way things are going USA might have Trump heading it soon. Their fear sends them bashing Trump in even louder voices as they try and make everyone scared of everything that will go wrong if Trump becomes President.

Being an outsider, with absolutely no political leanings towards either party in US politics, I wonder about two things.

One, is it really correct to say that Trump coming to power will be the ruin of America?

And two, why don’t the creative people of US politics come to the aid of an obviously popular Trump and actually help him make America great again, instead of just bashing him and garnering votes for Clinton, whom too, surprisingly, they do not particularly love?

From what little that I have understood it is being alleged that Trump has no ideas or only bad ideas of his own. But then the people of America like him and want him to lead America.

So let the wise men and women of US politics offer their own great ideas to Trump and help him meet the expectations of the people of America.

I believe that if we are not doing anything about it, it is not really bothering us.

If one is truly bothered by the current scenario, where Trump is set to come to power without any good ideas for America, one ought to give the popular leader all the support one can. This support can be in the form of original ideas on internal and external policy making so that he can choose from them what works for America and what works for him thus enabling him to achieve his declared objective of making America the greatest nation in the world if he becomes President.

My blog today is an attempt to offer one such idea Trump could incorporate in his speeches, policies and agenda to help him make America great again, if he becomes President, without compromising on the Republican agenda or on his own voiced stances and convictions.

Making sense of Trump - Immigration

Trump, we understand, is anti immigration. Is this correct? Well I don’t think he is more anti immigration than you and I are. More than likely, Trump, as almost every citizen of every country of the world today, is against unchecked inflow into his country, of people who are poorer than most of his own countrymen.

The word “immigration” has become synonymous with only this kind of inflow. If you take any country in the world today you will very likely find instances of an inflow from a poorer nation, typically in the same geographical region, into a comparatively more prosperous one.

While everyone loves rich immigrants who bring value into the economy of the country they migrate into, no one loves poor immigrants who are quite likely to become a burden on the economy of the country they migrate into. Trump or for that matter, the Republicans, are no different.

What then is the suggestion for Trump here?

Well, he could go ahead and declare that he will put reasonable checks on immigration and reduce the number of burdensome immigrants so that resources are saved.

But then he could offer to go a step further, a step that will make America truly great. As a long-term solution for curbing problematic immigration, he should vow to 'invest' a large part of the resources thus saved into increasing prosperity within the countries from where immigration has been curbed. America will not only become a nation of prosperous citizens but also a great nation that invests in the prosperity of less fortunate nations thus helping them.

The poor do not “want to” migrate. The rich migrate because they "want to" but the poor migrate because they “have to”.

It is only by taking prosperity to the poor where they live in their own countries can we really solve the “immigration” problems of not only America but of the entire world. This would be a way to solve immigration issues not only amongst nations but also amongst big cities and small towns and villages within every country itself. No poor person will then “have to” migrate to prosper. Trump's stance on immigration will then make sense to the naysayers.

Declaration of interest –

I have a vested interest here that I must declare. My agenda at this point in life is to make efforts in the direction of making a billion people rich and to work on reducing the wide disparity between the rich and the poor all over the world. Towards this my chosen method is to take prosperity to the poor in the small towns and villages themselves, where most of the poor of the world live. To create prosperity in every nook and corner of the world we will need to install the key elements of prosperity viz security, connectivity and infrastructure everywhere. For this huge resources will be needed. This article is also an indirect prompt to channelize the available resources of the planet towards this personal agenda.
